Yellowstone via Lamar Valley
There are multiple entrances into Yellowstone National Park. You can come from the west, via West Yellowstone. From the south, near Grand Teton National Park. From the east by Cody, Wyoming or from the north.
The north route takes you over the Beartooth Mountains and the narrow path winds you in and out of Wyoming and Montana. The landscape is a once in a lifetime view!
Before you enter the north entrance, you will go through two small towns that are worth a stop. Cooke City has a great ice cream shop and you can also find a wide variety of souvenir.
So as you approach the north entrance keep your eyes open for Moose. You will need to look through the woods on both sides of your car to see if you spot one.
Below is a rare photo of the Mama and Baby Moose that I just happen to spot while driving through the north entrance of the park.
I can't tell you how many different types of wildlife you will spot after you proceed through the enterance but I spotted a Wolf, about 150 Buffalo, and an Pronghorn Antelope!
